As a member of United Nations Global Compact since 2015, JP Sá Couto is committed to following ethical principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.
Joining Católica Lisbon School’s SDG Observatory in 2023 is further proof of the company’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, seeking to align its activities with global targets to promote a fairer, more equitable and sustainable world.

Product Development
Our concern for sustainability is not just limited to the company’s internal processes, but also extends to the products we offer our customers. That’s why all our products are developed according to ecodesign principles.
Ecodesign is an approach that integrates environmental considerations from the earliest stages of the product design and development process. In this way, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce the environmental impact of our products, from the selection of materials to the final design.
Energy Star
Our products have also been certified by the Energy Star program since 2011. We thus take into account the strict energy efficiency standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). By choosing Energy Star certified products, our customers are saving energy and helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
REACH, RoHS e WEEE
JP Sá Couto‘s products are certified to guarantee their safety and environmental sustainability, strictly complying with REACH, RoHS and WEEE standards. These certifications guarantee the quality of the products, but also demonstrate the company’s commitment to minimizing its environmental impact throughout the product’s life cycle.
JP Sá Couto uses FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified packaging for its devices, contributing to the preservation of forests and promoting responsible management of natural resources. In this way, we use as few materials as possible, which come to us from certified suppliers, with forest management standards that protect water quality, forests and avoid the use of hazardous chemicals.

Built to last
We have an ongoing commitment to maximizing the useful life of products, minimizing waste and using renewable resources that improve the durability, reliability, reusability, refurbishability and recyclability of our devices.
The company has signed an agreement with iFixit to promote sustainability and extend the useful life of devices, avoiding technological waste and promoting the circular economy.
This collaboration provides better access to information during the repair and maintenance of equipment, increasing user autonomy and reducing the need to constantly replace devices.
Despite all our efforts, a product can become outdated and reach the end of its life cycle. At a national level, we offer an equipment return service and a way of jointly collecting Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
Green Devices
In 2022 we certified one of our devices with EPEAT Bronze in Portugal.
EPEAT Bronze is a certification granted to technological products, such as computers, laptops, tablets and monitors, which meet specific sustainability criteria established by the EPEAT (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool) program.
